The founder
Who built the Haus.
Beck Smith is a mum of five, a regional Australian business owner, and the person who built this room because she needed it and could not find it.
Seven years ago she started Beam in Business after watching regional and rural women get left out of the rooms that decided who got the work. She was told to drive four hours to a capital city breakfast if she wanted to be taken seriously. So she built the room herself, from home, in between school runs.
Beam grew into a directory, a stage, an awards program, a members room and a rolodex she handed people when they needed someone real. Thousands of introductions later, the phone still rings with one question: who do you know who does this?
RAYE Haus is the answer to that question, built into a platform. Beck still reads the messages, still makes the introductions, and still turns up on the stage she made.

How we got here
Beam in Business is now RAYE Haus.
- 2019
Babes Bubbles and Business begins
Beck Smith hosts the first event for women in business in Rockhampton. One night with bubbles, conversations and a room full of founders who did not know they were waiting for each other.
- 2020
Beam Magazine is born
Three events in, Beam Magazine arrives. Then COVID shifts the stage online, and the magazine becomes the way to keep shining the light on women in business when in-person events cannot happen.
- 2021
Beam in Business launches
February marks the official launch of Beam in Business. The Women to Watch Awards run virtually for the first time, and the room starts to grow beyond one town.
- 2022
Women to Watch Awards Brisbane
The awards come off the screen and into a room in Brisbane. Finalists walk the stage, and the community feels what it is like to be together in person again.
- 2023
Beam Awards officially launch
The awards grow into a full program with categories, judges and a gala. Founders across Australia start to see the title as a mark they want to earn.
- 2024
Gold Coast, Pink Pages and Fuchsia
Beam Awards heads to the Gold Coast. The Pink Pages Directory launches alongside a new website, giving members a public address people can search and share. The Fuchsia Festival also launches, with four events across two days.
- 2025
Yeppoon, then Melbourne
The awards come home to Yeppoon, then the road opens to Melbourne for 2026. Every step proves the community can travel and still feel like home.
- 2026
RAYE Haus is born
We did things a little different and flew to Melbourne to officially launch the Beam Awards. A challenging year brings a sliding door moment. The same standard, the same founder, and years of introductions become one address: RAYE Haus.
