What they're known for
2 Bent Rods is a multi award winning fishing education and community programs provider, helping children, families and communities connect through fishing since 2004.
What began in Queensland has grown to reach more than 120,000 participants through fishing lessons, school programs, community events, council programs, environmental education, disability and inclusion programs, holiday activities and fishing competitions.
2 Bent Rods is also the home of the Aussie Junior Fishing Classic (AJFC), an Australia wide fishing competition for children and teenagers aged 3 to 17. Held every school holidays, the AJFC allows young anglers to take part from anywhere in Australia, whether they live on the coast, inland, in a regional community or are travelling during the holidays.
The AJFC has been designed to make fishing accessible and exciting for young people of all experience levels. Entrants compete across a range of fishing and environmental categories, with species categories, random prizes and other opportunities giving both experienced young anglers and complete beginners a chance to be involved. Young people enter their catches through the 2 Bent Rods app, allowing children from across the country to compete together in one national event.
Supported by fishing industry partners, tackle stores and sponsors around Australia, the AJFC is continuing to build a national community of young anglers. The program also extends beyond competition through the AJFC Ambassador Program, giving teenagers aged 13 to 17 the opportunity to represent their local area, contribute fishing reports, promote fishing within their communities and develop leadership and communication skills.
Across all of its programs, 2 Bent Rods believes fishing can change lives. Fishing provides an alternative pathway for children who may not connect with traditional sports, creates opportunities for families to spend time together, builds confidence and practical skills, and encourages young people to understand and care for the waterways and environments they enjoy.
With more than 20 years of experience, 2 Bent Rods continues to create opportunities for the next generation of Australian anglers, from a child's first time holding a fishing rod through to employment, leadership and ambassador pathways within the fishing community.
